Background of the study
Mobile health applications have emerged as a vital tool in improving community wellness by providing accessible healthcare information, facilitating remote consultations, and promoting health monitoring in urban centers like Abuja (Chukwu, 2024). These applications leverage digital technology to bridge gaps in healthcare access, particularly in regions where traditional health services are strained. In Abuja, mobile health platforms have been instrumental in delivering timely medical advice, scheduling appointments, and disseminating public health messages during emergencies (Okeke, 2025). The proliferation of smartphones and increased internet penetration have accelerated the adoption of mobile health solutions, transforming healthcare delivery from a centralized model to a more patient-centered approach. This digital shift not only empowers individuals to take charge of their health but also supports healthcare providers in managing resources more efficiently. However, challenges such as data privacy, technological literacy, and inconsistent network coverage continue to affect the effectiveness of these applications. This study investigates how mobile health applications influence community wellness in Abuja by examining user adoption rates, satisfaction levels, and health outcomes. The analysis draws on interdisciplinary perspectives from public health, information technology, and behavioral science to offer a comprehensive evaluation of mobile health innovations.
Statement of the problem
Despite the growing popularity of mobile health applications in Abuja, their impact on community wellness remains inadequately explored. Many residents experience barriers such as limited digital literacy, privacy concerns, and sporadic network connectivity, which hinder effective usage of these platforms (Chukwu, 2024). Additionally, there is a lack of standardized evaluation metrics to assess the actual benefits of mobile health services on health outcomes. This study aims to address these challenges by critically evaluating the efficacy of mobile health applications in improving community wellness. The research will examine the factors that facilitate or constrain the effective adoption of these digital tools and propose strategies to optimize their impact (Okeke, 2025).
Objectives of the Study
